Lunch Smoothie

So far the morning smoothie has helped tremendously. I will be making a trip to the grocery store again today. This time I plan to buy more supplies for my morning smoothie but also to get some for a lunch smoothie. I will be trying the GREEN juice mixture with wheat germ and yogurt.
Wheat germ replaces many of the nutrients found in meats. So this would be appropriate to add to a smoothie which is replacing one of my meals.

"wheat germ can provide you with those vitamins and minerals you may be missing, as well as give you fiber to satisfy your appetite."

I will report if this is a beneficial meal replacement smoothie or if I need to use it as a snack instead.

Because I am breastfeeding it is important that the only weight loss program I take on is one which provides plenty of nutrients so that I may still provide Squirmy with plenty of nutrition. I also need to have enough to keep myself thriving in the process.

Mornings

I am currently about 3 months postpartum with my third son. I have energy level issues and am also breast feeding. I have found a solution to my morning energy levels! I have a smoothie EVERY morning! The smoothie is as follows:

1 cup organic yogurt
1 cup  Bolthouse juice (any berry mixture preferably the darker berries)
2.5 Tbsp cocoa powder
2 Tbsp ground flaxseed

I simply put all ingredients in our blender and mix it up until completely incorporated. It takes about 5 minutes tops from start to finish.

I have been energetic (not bouncing off the walls) and in better moods in the morning since I have been drinking these. My appetite is satisfied for about four hours. Which is when I either have a snack when at work or eat lunch with my boys at home.

ALL NEW

As I am new to writing blogs I plan to make this tow experiences in one. My goal for the next year is to document how my family (specifically my own) diets will change over this period of time. We have been the same as the average american as far as what food we consume. We have eaten lots of meats and carbohydrates. Most of our veggies are usually cooked in some way. I have placed a grain of some sort on each of my children's plates at every meal. I have bought fat free and low fat options. We have even been guilty of buying things with fake sweeteners. Most of all we ate food based on taste mostly with some consideration of health benefits. Now I want to reverse the order of why we consume food. After all, food should be our fuel!

It is time for a change! It does not matter if we lose weight if we are simply filling our bodies with chemicals. I believe that if I can convert our diets to foods we  find in nature and get rid of the processed chemically altered foods we have been buying, not only will the pounds shed off but I will be full of energy and our family will be much happier and healthier as a whole! I figure these are huge changes to make and it won't happen over night. So I will track the progress.

On this adventure I will learn new things about food. I will learn new foods to eat and new ways to prepare them. Some of the new types of food changes will include Super Foods, Raw Foods, and definitely some Organic changes. I plan to share regular photos and post very frequently about what we are eating, new items I have found, price comparisons, benefits of certain foods, and reviews. I hope you enjoy following my blog over the next year and maybe you will find yourself joining us!
